Dr. Marla Sheppard was chosen to lead Longview ISD in 2024, after serving in various educational leadership roles in Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Kansas City Public Schools, and KIPP Texas Public Schools.

She began her career as a math and science teacher and has served as an assistant principal, middle and high school principal, and assistant superintendent.

Dr. Sheppard holds a B.S. in biomedical science from Texas A&M University and both an M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of Houston.
